Voluntary sector
The third sector consists of numerous organisations, including charities that contribute to the public sector in many areas
just like the ‘public sector’ the ‘voluntary sector’ is an umbrella term that encompasses a number of organisations that fulfil the needs of communities and state, and may function within a ‘marketplace’ of organisations all competing for resources and fulfilling any number of functions.
Many organisations work in collaborations that comprise private-, state- and third-sector organisations working together to achieve a particular aim. But this is not straightforward
