Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS)
Scenario 1: "The Chatterers Catty Cathy and her friend Conversational Carl talking openly and loudly in the class. It is clear by their body language they are not discussing course content. You make eye contact to tell them to stop talking, they stop for a while but a few minutes later, they start talking again. You verbally ask them to stop, but they continue to talk and laugh." Scenario 2: "You are a young teacher, on the first day of the class, a student asks you many disrespectful questions. Also, because you are new to a geographic area that is predominately one ethnicity and race, and you don't share this with your new students. Students don't think you belong to the class, and they don't want to do the homework you assigned for them. During you lecturing, students seldom pay attention to you, and they often leave the class every 10 minutes. You really can't teach them at all!" (Hara, 2010)
