Opposition to the regime
Assassination Attempts
-
In April 1943 he successfully planted and primed a bomb in Hitler's suitcase that detonated successfully. It only failed due to where Hitler was and where the briefcase was placed.
Had Hitler placed the briefcase beside him instead of on the other side of his desk it would have killed him outright.

Communists
In Berlin alone there were 89 terrorist cells and many others in major German cities but by 1943 and efficient SS and gestapo attacks they were completely removed form Berlin.
-
They were not very popular as people still hated and feared Communists based on what Hitler had said and the advances into the Soviet Union that were taking place at the time.
Army and elites
There was a plot to assassinate Hitler amongst the elites, replace him and make peace with the allies
-
Count Helmut von Moltke was a leading figure in the group which included other aristocrats but was described as the intellectual of the group behind the non-communist resistance
-
They did support Hitler at the beginning as he promised them they would be left alone but after losses in the Soviet Union they thought Hitler would bring about the destruction of Germany.
The Church
Protestant
Many protested publicly against the prosecution of the Jews. Bonhoffer had been an outspoken critic of the regime since 1933 and called for wider resistance all over Germany and was involved with many of the German elites and resistance
-
Could have become a serious threat had more people followed him or his contacts in the elite helped him stay out of prison but the fact that he had those contacts and they were willing to support him shows that he was a potential threat
Catholic
Bishop Galen Spoke spoke against the euthanasia program which had killed 270,000 mentally and physically disabled people
-
Galen was being noticed too much so instead of arresting him immediately the regime arrested 3 bishops that spread the sermon to prevent anti-Nazi messages getting too much support nationally
They could have potentially caused a lot of damage to the regime as they held a lot of power over the German public if they had spoken out against more of the Nazi's radical policies
The youth
Working class youth
Wild cliques were both criminal and peaceful but all were illegal but even beofre they became illegal they were regarded as unconventional and while Hitler focused on the war they reemerged in Germany
-
-
Middle class youth
The middle class didn't wasnt to rebel against the regime but broke the law as they wanted to have fun rather than obey the rules present in the Hitler Youth.
They adopted Jazz, American, British music which was in open violation of the Nazi regime
Himmler wanted to send the youths found doing this to the concentration camps for 2-3 years as a punishment. Groups that spread anti-Nazi propaganda were executed
They were never a real threat but the regime regained control of the youth so as to set an example to other groups that there was no room to bend the rules
