Motion and forces
Motion
An object in motion changes position
Position describes the location of an object
Position: Where somthing is located
Reference point: A locationt which you capare other location
Motion: the change of position in an object over time
Speed measures how fast a position changes
Position can change at different rates
Whne you say how long it takes to get somewhere you are using
distance and your speed.
Speed: the measure of how fast somthing moves
Calculating speed: you need to know both distance and time
Speed= distance/time
Acceleration measures how fast velocity changes
Acceleration: The rate at which veloctiy changes with time
Can be calculated from velocity and time
Acceleration= final velocity-initial velocity/time
a= V final- v initial/ t
Forces
Forces Change Motion
Force: to push or pull
types of forces
Contact force
when a object pushes or pull and object by touching it
Gravity
The force of attraction between two masses
Friction
A force that resists motion between two surfaces
