Airway
-
-
only 3 problems
ventilation
breathing 40/min for a while, they will crap out on you. high CO2 and pt is acidotic
-
-
-
-
gas exchange
CO2 goes in to alveoli, O2 goes from air to bloodstream on the hemogloben, co2 out of blood stream into to the air we breath
concentration gradient, venous blood is low O2, high CO2, air we breath is high O2 and low CO2 allowing for diffusion to take place
hgb carries O2
PO2 is how much O2 you are carrying on your bloodstream 80-100, how much O2 is being circulated in the Blood stream
-
GI bleed hgb - 6
-
PO2 70, not enough cars in hgb train to carry the O2
-
COPD
-
from smoking, they retain CO2
-
PH 7.35-7.45
below 7.35 O2 and hgb hate each other, hgb won't pick O2 up in the lungs
-
above 7.45 Love each other, hgb picks up in lungs but won't drop off in the tissues.
-
-
perfusion
arterial blood flow, o2 delivery to the tissue
