Conditions for Development
Warmth
This benefits the child as they will have a warm place to come home to.
This will make the child feel good as they will not have to worry about being cold.
the parent needs to provide the child with good bedding to keep them warm, also sufficient clothing for all weathers.
If warmth isn't provided, a child may become ill as they are too cold, hypothermia could occur.
Routine
it is important for a child to have a routine such as a certain time they need to go to bed as this will put them into good habits and ensure they get enough rest.
the parents have the role to ensure the child has a suitable routine to get them into good habits, they can do this by making certain rules and rewarding them when they have followed the routine.
if a child does not have a routine they may not get enough sleep and they will also not understand when they have to do things like brushing your teeth, this will cause temper tantrums.
Love and security
It should make your child feel safe and secure and they should feel as if they can tell you their worries and they feel cared for.
Examples of this is kissing them goodnight, picking them up from places, reassuring them when they are on their way to their first day of school and telling them they are brave and it’s okay when they fall over and hurt themselves.
if a child does not feel loved or secure they will keep their worries and emotions in and not want to tell anyone which will cause major mental problems. they will also feel alone.
Exercise/Fresh air
this is important for the child as this means that the child's muscles and bones can develop properly and to prevent obesity.
parents need to make sure that children are spending sufficient time outside and exercising for their growth and development.
if a child does not get enough exercise or fresh air they are more likely to become obese and their muscles will not develop correctly.
Cleanliness
the parents can give the child a bath/shower, wash their hands, brush their teeth and ensure they wipe their bottom correctly.
this is important for a child to learn how to keep clean as this will put them onto good habits for the future and make sure they do not become ill from putting dirty hands into their mouths.
if a child does not get cleaned then they may become ill from all of the bacteria on their skin and mouth, they may also get infections.
Rest/Sleep
It is important for a child to get good rest so that they can have more energy when awake.
Parents have the role of putting their child to bed as they know the amount of sleep their child needs.
A lack of sleep could lead to a child being sick, feeling dizzy and having headaches, they can also become overtired which means they become exhausted.
Opportunities for listening and talking
A parent could talk to their child and have conversations, by sending them to playgroup, they are also communicating with others and making friends.
Listening is good for a child as it will teach them about basic rules of listening to others when speaking. Talking develops their communication skills and helps them learn new things.
If a child lacks having communication with others, they will eventually fall behind with speaking and pronouncing, without listening to others, they may be seen as rude.
Stimulation/opportunities to play
By parents sending their children to nursery/playgroup, they are in contact with other people, teaching them how to share and play with their friends.
The reason this is important for a child is because by playing they are using their creativity and imagination, it also teaches them how to share if they are with others.
With a lack of opportunities to play, they will not be able to make friends which means they lack communication skills, the children that lack opportunities when playing also may feel isolated as they get older.
