Appropriate wear and sufficient clothing and bedding
All children need to feel loved, wanted and nurtured, and this gives rise to feeling emotionally secure. Children also need to be kept physically secure and safe from harm.
Children need clean and appropriately hygienic environments. As their immune systems are less mature, it is much easier for a child to pick up an infection. Cleanliness in kitchen areas is especially important. The child must also be bathed daily and kept clean and fresh. Their clothing and bedding should be regularly laundered.
Why we make routines
for bedtimes, bath times and feeding
Exercise and fresh air are good for a child's physical health and wellbeing - young children are built to be busy and active. Sufficient exercise builds fitness, robustness and helps strong growth and development. A lack of exercise can have a very negative effect on health, fitness and development.
To ensure that all their care needs can be met effectively everyday- for instance feeding needs to be spread out across the day to ensure that children have the nutrients they need to keep going
Why we should listen and talk
All children need opportunities to play in ways that are appropriate to their stage of development. Under the UN Convention on Rights of the Child, all children have a fundamental right to play.
Listening and talking with the child shows that you care about them and are interested in them
It is important to their social and emotional development
Sufficient rest and sleep is crucial to a child's wellbeing, learning, growth and development. Ensuring children get enough rest and sleep is therefore a very important parental responsibility. New parents can underestimate how much they might need to reduce their own social life to ensure that their child gets enough good-quality rets and sleep. It is unrealistic to expect to expect to provide sufficient rest and sleep if a child has to accompany a parent as they go about their life as before.
It is also vital for their intelle4ctual and language development as they have interesting conversations
Children need their parents to provide them with warmth, Heating a home is a significance expense, and parents will need to plan to pay for this. if heating breaks down it will coast a lot to fix
Cuddles, reassurance.
