freedom of information act 2000
purpose
provide the public with access to information held by public authorities
two principles
members of the public can request information from the public bodies about their activities
public authorities are obliged to publish data
data protection aact 1998
principals:
data should be accurate and up to date
data should only be kept for as long as necessary
data should be relevant and not excessive
individuals have the right to access data kept ABOUT THEM TO CHECK AND UPDATE IT IF NECISARRY
data should only be used for the purpose specified
ADEQUITYE SECURITY MUST PREVENT UNAUTHORISED ACCESS TO DATA
data should be processed fairly, not obtained by deception
DATA CANT BE TRANSFERRED OUTSIDE THE EU UNLESS A COUNTRY HAS ADIQUETE DATA PROTECTIONS

MAKES IT illegal to
copy, modify, or distribute software music or video or other intelectual property without permission of the auther
computer mususe act 1990
it is illegal too
with the intent to commit further offenses
with the intent to modify data
eg,

make any unauthorised access to data
creative common licensing
a standardised way to grant copyright permissions to creative work, allows an auther to retain copyright while allowing others to copy, distribute and make some uses of their work
