Types
Hyponymy (上下义关系)
Definition: refers to the sense relation that holds between classes and their members. It deals with semantic inclusion.

Polysemy (多义关系)

Context is crucial in determining the exact meaning of a polysemous word, which produces a variety of meanings and functions.
Antonymy (反义关系)
Definition: refers to the oppositeness of meaning. It is established by two words with opposite and contradictory meanings within the same category. It deals with semantic opposition.
Types
Complementary
(互补反义词)
= binary antonyms, binary taxonomy or contradictory terms. They represent an either/or relation.

Converse
(逆反反义词)

The members of a pair do not constitute a positive-negative opposition. They show the reversal of a relationship between two entities.

Homonymy
(同形同音异义关系)
Definition: refers to the phenomenon that different words are identical in sound or spelling, or in both.

Synonymy (同义关系)
Definition: refers to the sameness or close similarity of meaning. It is a word meaning relationship in which two words have identical or nearly identical meanings.
Synonyms (同义词): One or several words which have the same or very nearly the same essential meaning. Synonyms share a likeness in denotation (conceptual meaning) as well as part of speech.

Definition: Sense denotes the relationship inside the language. Sense is also an abstraction that can be entertained in the mind of a language user. In other words, the sense is a way to express the meaning.
