The Odyssey
The Trojan War
Odysseus left Ithaca to fight in the Trojan war. The Odyssey is based on his journey back to Ithaca.
The Lotus Eaters
Zeus sweeps Odysseus and his crew to the island of the Lotus Eaters where some of the are members are offered the fruit of the lotus. After they eat it all desires to go home are lost and they stay on the island forever. Two men are lost.
The Cyclops
When they land on the island of the cyclops Odysseus wants to get out and see if the inhabitants are friendly. They get trapped by the cyclops in his cave and he eats 2 men. They devise a plan. They sharpened a large rod and heated it when the time was right and stuck it in the giants eye.

Hes alone now and ends up being stuck on the island of calypso for 7 years. After the 7 years zeus commands that she lets Odysseus go
When they reach the island of helios Odysseus makes his crew promise not to touch any of the cattle. They get stuck for 20 days and are running low on food with no success fishing. So while odysseus is away praying, the crew slaughters a few cattle and feasts. Helios asks Zeus for revenge and Zeus promises to break two of his ships
They come to a crossroads. They have two options. A woman monster with 6 heads or Chrybids a whirlpool. Odysseus decides its better to risk 6 men. He wants to fight her but soon realizes he cant and loses 6 men.
On their way back from Circes they must stop at the underworld. They preform a ritual and talk to many spirits including Odysseus's mother, They left in a hurry.
Circe turned some of odysseus men into pigs. When he went to her house to get them back she tried to trick him but was unsuccessful. He ended up staying with her for a year on her island and fell in love with her.
King Aeolus
King Aeolus gifts a bag of winds to Odysseus to help get him home. With Ithaca in sight Odysseus falls asleep. His men become jealous and one the bag of winds. It blows them back to Aeolus and he angrily turns them away
