Electricity - Coggle Diagram
Electricity
Energy Resources:Are natural resources from which we obtain different forms of energy that can be transformed for a specific uses.
HouseHold uses:The operating electrical appliances, heating systems, hot water systems, heat for coocking and for means of transport for example.
Industrial Uses. The operaiting of factories and companies construction, agriculture and so on.
By use in each country
Conventional:Most commonly used in industrialised countriues. Example:Energy that comes from fussils fuels.
Non-Conventional:Alternative energy sources,in early stags of their technologicl development, solar and wind power belong tyo this group.
By origin
Primary:Obtained directly from nature, Examples:Crude oil, natual gas, coal, nuclear energy and renewable energies.
Secondary:Resulting from transformation of primary sources. Examples:Electricity, some petroleum derivatives.

By enviroment impact
Clean or non-polluting: Low enviroment impact,Dont generate by products that pollute the enviroment.
Pollutants:Sources that have negative effects on the enviroment for example, they might generate by-products that severely pollute the enviroment.

Enviromental Impact:The building and operating of an electric power plant results in a ecologic change in that region. This is due both to the construction of the necessary infrastructure and the waste that this acivity generates
Environmental impact assement:As part of a technical project, its mandatory to carry out an enviromental impact assessment to find out what changes it would provoke in the enviroment.
Enviromental Impacts:Energy consuption is preceded by a long process, consisting of several stages, each of which has an enviromental cost.
Extraction of natural resources:The exploitation of fossil fuels and nuclear power means the depletion of resources, which makes it necessary to find new ones.Fuel extraction processes are someties harmful to the enviroment. In particular, timber extraction has led to the dissappearance of large areas of forest,a process that is continuing even today.
Electricity generation
Large hydroeletric power plant require water reservoirs covering large areas, which profundly change the natural cycle of rivers, flood large land areas and destroy escosystems, in addition to increasing the risk of accidents.
Conventional Thermal power plants:Can cause numerous problems and enviromental hazards. They produce air pollution-suspended particles,Co,heavy metal molecules and so on.They emit large amounts of Co2 whichg increases the greenhouse effect. They meit sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide that cause acid rain, which is very harmful to the enviroment. The water used in the cooling systems is returned to the enviroment while its still warm, which affects both animal and plant life.Nuclear thermal power plants are accompanied by the risk of nuclear accidents and the problems of nuclear waste, some of which remain for thousands of years.
Final energy use:The fuel we use in vehicles and heaing systems emit gases and particle similar and those generated by convetional therman power plants.
Waste treatment:To reduce the waste generated by thermal power plants,as well as their effects, several measures can be taken.Install special filters on the pipes at the power plant to capture some of the gas pollution.Use coal with a low sulphur content,to reduce acid rain.Maintain and increase the size of large forested areas since they absorb carbon dioxide. The use of ocean trenches has its own problems, becouse theres the risk of the drums carroding and the radiactive material leaking out of them.
