power is the ability to affect the behaviour of others. There are 6 types of power

- reward power which consists in the use of rewards to influence behaviour. For example bonus at the end of the year.
3.Coercive power to force compliance by psychological, physical, or emotional threats. For example: a robber threatened to hut you unless you give them your money.
the ability of an individual, group, or organization to influence and/or guide other individuals or organizations. There are several factors that that can create effective leadership.
- Expert power "knowledge". An individual who has an elevated level of knowledge or a specific skill that others do not have this leads to more influence within the expert's team. For example, people in marketing
- Political Power (support from groups and networks of
influence).
- legitimate power: derived from the position you hold in an organization
Example: Manage --> Supervisor --> Worker
- Referent power (charm to the leader/loyalty to the leader
- Functional groups: used to accomplish a number of
purposes with an unspecified time horizon.

Emotional intelligence can affect your performance at work, your physical health, mental health, and relationships.
Emotionally intelligent people are open-minded and confident.
Individuals with emotional intelligence are able to identify and describe their emotions accurately as they occur. They can identify what caused their emotional state and what to do about them. They are also able to empathize with others and understand their emotions and motivations
- Autocratic: Also known as authoritarian leadership style in which it is characterized by individual control over all decisions with little input from the group. A more direct and controlling leadership style
- Laissez Faire: The direct opposite of autocratic leadership. Instead of one person making all the decisions, they make few and allow input from their workers.
- Democratic leader: Group member are encouraged to share their ideas and opinions, eve though the leaders make the final desicion.
Leadership Theories/Styles
Leadership theories identify the explanations of how and why certain people are leaders. They focus on mainly traits and behaviours of a person to better understand what a leader is.
Leadership Style is the manner and approach of providing direction, putting plans in place, motivating people, It's the patterns of employee's boss shows
