The role of Jesus in restoration through sacrifice
Free will and sin
God gave everyone free will as he didn't want everyone to act like robots obeying him. He wanted a real relationship with each individual
Genesis 2:16-17
God commanded Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
God made all of creation perfect
An interpretation of the story of Adam and Eve shows the importance of the fact about the relationship between God and humans
God wants what is good for humanity. Humans prefer to do what they want rather what God wants, God accepts this decision despite that it harms the harmony between him and creation
Important that humans are free and choose to accept God's will instead of the world being perfect without any freedom
sin=rejection of the will of God
original sin=everyone is born with the tendency to reject God, to commit sin
Because of human weakness, human alone cannot restore the relationship with God that has been broken by sin. Only God can help humans to do this
God the son took on full human condition, to enable the perfect relationship with God to be re- established so that God doesn't force the relationship, as it will destroy the gift of free will
The ascension
Christ=head of Church. He calls all people to join in the effect of Jesus' resurrection
Resurrection and the defeat of sin make all things holy. Making all things perfect as God intended
Christ has restored everything to the condition that God wishes
Ephesians 1:22
' has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things'
Whole creation will accept God and God will bring all things together as one. This will be the restoration of creation
Jesus Christ goes to be with God at the at the ascension, anad takes his place at the right hand of the father, God
The resurrection
God raised Jesus from the dead and this destroyed the ultimate power of sin and death
Through resurrection the harmony of creation was restored
Jesus had never sinned so he couldn't go to hell, meaning that Jesus never had rejected God, the power of sin and death that tried to permanently sperate Jesus from God did not affect Jesus
People can still sin but the death and resurrection of Jesus have destroyed the ultimate power of sin. However people still need to accept God and his forgiveness
Jesus showed his obedience through his death, fulfilling the Father's will, death could not hold Jesus
The resurrection happened on a Sunday showing that Jesus bought in the new creation to balance the original creation, which started on the first day but was damaged by the human sins
The death of Jesus
The standards he lived by made people around him uncomfortable, this led Jesus to be rejected b y people he had to help. They accused Jesus of blasphemy to justify being able to kill him
Jesus died because he did the right things at all times. He lived God's law and love
He showed love at all times, even his actions towards others even if they were wrong he would always sin them back to the correct path. He never condemned
His total obedience to the Father restored the relationship that humanity's sin had destroy. It was the sacrifice of obedience, rather than the sacrifice of pain and blood, that restored the relationship between God the Father and humans.
Jesus lived his life in total obedience to the will of God the Father. He perfected the law, God gave to all his people to become closer to him
