Neoclassicism and Romanticism are two very different literary and artistic movements.
Neoclassicism was in search of a new harmony between man and nature in contrast with the opulent Baroque styles, taking as a reference the classical history and the harmonic lines that define “classical beauty”.
Romanticism opposed to this vision the sphere of sentiment, pain, mystery, passion and irrationality, taking as a reference the history of the Middle Ages considered, until then, a dark and barbaric period.
