The groups Jesus emphasized
Jesus clearly calls out two groups in the form of the scribes and pharasies
Made up of mainly aristocrats and law enforcers and abused their power for profit
The zealots were Jews who would do anything to overthrow the Romans
The Sadducees were a group of highly regarded priests in which had strong ties to the Romans.
Planned the death of Jesus
Jesus’ role
Jesus was a very public figure who attracted large crowds of commoners to follow him
In the people’s eyes the Messiah was supposed to set the people free.
Jesus was the son of God in which was destined to free those from sin
However numerous groups saw Jesus ‘ presence as a threat and planned on his death
With Jesus’s arrival, in which was not in a common king fashion, he was angry at buying and selling that was happening in the walls of the temple.-
If Jesus is God then Jesus’ body serves the same purpose as the temple. He was beiing disrespected through the selling of items at the temple.
Before Jesus part from the world he gives his disciples the Eucharist
He prays over them before his depart
With the agony in the garden Jesus was finally betrayed by Judas and arrested by the guards to be sent to his Crucifixion
Jesus is challenged to produce evidence of his authority to shut down commerce in the temple
Ultimately Jesus’ explanations were not approved by the Jewish crowd and he was ultimately sent to his Crucifixion and death.
Unit 4
Jesus’ resurrection
Jesus raises people from the dead and performs all his miracles by his authority because he is the Son of the Lord
Unlike Elijah, Peter, or Paul, after his resurrection Jesus’ body and life was completely different.
Jesus physical body will live throughout eternity
With Jesus’ resurrection on the 3rd day after his death, it was different from that of the ones he performed for other people.
Although all gospels disagree in terms of the women in which noticed the empty tomb in which Jesus left, they all agree that one of them was Mary Magdalene.
The gospels also agree on the fact that these women were instructed to go forth and inform the apostles of Jesus’ resurrection.
Once Jesus spent some time back on earth he informed his followers of his soon to be ascension.
Although his followers begged for him to stay he reassured them he will always be with them and that he will send them down the holy Spirt to complete his mission and have his apostles spread the word of the Lord and form the church.
