Woodscrews provide a neat, strong method of joining timber, and they can be removed easily.
Wood screws are classified by their length, gauge (diameter, material and type of head
Using wood-screws
Drill a pilot hole slight smaller then the core in the thick piece. Use a bradawl in softwood and drill in hardwood to make the pilot hole
Drill a clearance hole in the thin piece, slighter larger then the shank of the screws
Countersink the clearance hole
Brass screws can shear off: to avoid this insert a steel screw first, then replace it with a brass one
