Treatment
Removes pollutants from the 'raw' collected water and produces water that is pure enough for consumption
Things like suspended solids, bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi, etc.. are removed from the water
Different processes for treatment
Chlorination: to control any biological growth
Aeration: removes dissolved iron and manganese
sedimentation: removes suspended solids
filtration: removes fine sediments
disinfection: kills bacteria
Delivery
In developed countries, water delivered from treatment sites to homes via pipes. This is costly to maintain and install - leakages can occur
In developed countries, water delivered by standpipes (water pumped vertically) in streets. Also can collect via wells.
Is often untreated
Collected by buckets which may be dirty
Takes a long time collecting it
Plastic bottles filled from a spring than sold somewhere
