Alter Ego
Abstract portrait
Artists that do that work
Jean Metzinger
Pablo Picasso
Artworks
This piece is one of his self portraits that he made at the age of 25. Out of all the self portraits (look at this website for all his self portraits https://mymodernmet.com/pablo-picasso-self-portraits/) this on is the one that I think represents an abstract self portrait the best and it is a style that I lie and think i could try use in my own self portrait
About the Piece
This art caught my attention and I think this style of art is something that I am very possibly looking for in my final product. What I like about this piece is how he made the face un-proportionate. I like that style and I would probably adopt some aspects of it. There is nothing about the colors that especially caught my attention but I think they do compliment this piece.
Photo Taking (My chosen medium)
I plan to make some sort of collage type abstract self portrait, taking different photos of myself and putting them together to make a picture of myself

Artworks
This is one of Jean Metzinger's most popular piece. Le Goûter, also known as Tea Time (Tea-Time), and Femme à la Cuillère (Woman with a teaspoon) is an oil painting created in 1911 by the French artist and theorist Jean Metzinger (1883–1956). It was exhibited in Paris at the Salon d'Automne of 1911, and the Salon de la Section d'Or, 1912.
https://www.pablopicasso.org/the-weeping-woman.jsp The Weeping Woman series is regarded as a thematic continuation of the tragedy depicted in Picasso's epic painting Guernica. In focusing on the image of a woman crying, the artist was no longer painting the effects of the Spanish Civil War directly, but rather referring to a singular universal image of suffering.
About It
Artist that do this work
Definition: An alter ego (Latin for "other I") means an alternative self, which is believed to be distinct from a person's normal or true original personality. Finding one's alter ego will require finding one's other self, one with a different personality.
About Him:
Jean Metzinger was an artist and prominent member of the French avant-garde. Metzinger was best known for Cubist paintings such as Le goûter (Tea Time) (1911), which combined the Divisionist brushstrokes of Georges Seurat with modeled forms and multiple http://www.artnet.com/artists/jean-metzinger/
Cubism
After researching a couple of artist that deal with abstract art, I found out that I like the style of cubism that they use in many of their artworks. This makes a piece look unique and overall i just like that way it looks. Cubism is an early 20th-century style and movement in art, especially painting, in which perspective with a single viewpoint was abandoned and use was made of simple geometric shapes, interlocking planes, and, later, collage.
Where it can be used: Alter ego can be expressed in many ways in art. Some express it through music some express it through art some express it through performance etc. The idea of alter ego in art (and this also applies to music) is giving yourself a new identity, an alter ego so that you are able to express yourself and you r creativity at its fullest
From my research I hav come to find that many of these artworks feature a face of the artist (self portrait) with another face of themself that looks a bit different, this second face is most probably representing their alter ago and is how that want to express this alter ego of theirs.

Artworks
This is a piece from one of his art galleries in 2008. It was an alter ego exhibition where he featured multiple different artworks such as this one. This picture has two faces of him, one facing the left (his right) and one facing forward. This is most probably representing two different personalities (alter ego's).
This is another piece from his art gallery in 2008. It was an alter ego exhibition where he featured multiple different artworks such as this one. This picture is similar to the first one but instead this time there seems to be only one head. this head is split in the half, one half (one alter ago) is one face and the other is another alter ego.
This is a good example of something that I might be looking for. In this picture many different photos are collaged together to make a "full" face.
Pablo Picasso's weeping woman is also a good example of something that I could and probably would use (some elements of) in my own work. In this artwork it is like different angles of the face were taken (nose taken from side view, eyes taken from front view) and then they were put together to make a face. By adding some aspect of this in my final design it can add a bit more of that element of surrealism.
