LACK OF INVESTMENT

SSA women make 70 for every dollar made by man- manufacturing, services and trade

Women paid- cooking oil, blankets, food, etc - men given money
CORRUPTION

hurts the poor- money intended for development, used for other things

Zambia- The UK, Ireland, Sweden, Finland- frozen aid funding to Zambia- admitted $4.3m (3.3m) meant for poor facilities went missing
due to corrupt governments and lack of good governance- majority of populations will remain in extreme poverty
CIVIL WAR

SSA- infrastructure already poor- effects long lasting, wide spreading

during conflict- no education, no basic health care
South Sudan- civil war continues- broke out in December 2013- over 50,000 killed
