Kosovo is a land with many resources
Majorly lignite which is a fossil fuel making it invaluable to the economy
Providing over 90%of the countries electricity deposit
the problem however lies in extracing deposits, whic requires investment
after the war, the economy of kosovo was based heavily upon agriculture
it only contributed to 13% of the GNP and majority of these products were used by the kosovars
this generated very little income for the countries economy
overall the post war economy became heavily dependent on foriegn aid
post war reconstructure brought upon an economic boom which hid kosovo underlining problems

public expenditure was the cause for some of the deep rooted problems in kosovo
there was an unofficial currency in kosovo as they had taken the german mark and then after the Euro
kosovo still remains one of the poorest countries
unemployment was very high in Kosovo

Social Consequences and Refugee Problem
the number of deaths relative to what had happened in rwanda was small
however the death toll in kosovo was not accurately known
the serb and roma minority groups felt the social consequences immediately
another bout of ethnic cleansing happened shortly after the peace agreements
gthe raw number of those that had died was relatively small, but the social consequences faced were staggering
even after the signing of the ceasefire didnt bring an end to the killing and suffering
Acts Of Revenge
nearly all serbian institiutions dissapeared after the war
as well as serbian domination in the war
many serbs stayed in kosovo as they had always lived there
hpwever majority left as they didnt want to live in an albanian dominant society
in war there are usually acts of reprisal taken by the victors against the defeated
in kosovo serb minorities and the Roma we immediately targeted
Albanians regarded them as complicit if not actively involved in the ethnic cleansing
during the war serbs drove 90% of the albanian from their homes
this was an actof revenge by the ethnic Albanains
many ethnic groups were displaced mostly the serbs
prior to the war serbs were predominant in kosovo
even thogh majority were albanians
