Plant development - Coggle Diagram
Plant development
Stages of plant development: fertilization --> embryogenesis and seed development --> post-embryonic vegetative growth and maturation --> reproductive development
Life cycle of a flowering plant: flowers has anthers (meiosis produces male pollen grain) and ovary (meiosis produces female embryo sac) --> fertilize --> embryogenesis: zygote makes embryo and seed develops --> shoot and root development --> flowers
Gamete production
Anther --> meiosis --> 4 haploid cells (spores) --> Each spore undergoes 2 mitotic divisions to produce a pollen grain containing 2 sperm cells, which are suspended in the cytoplasm
Ovule --> meiosis --> 4 spores (only 1 survives) --> this sporee undergoes 3 mitotic divisions to produce 8 cells, one of which becomes the egg cell

Reproductive: plants don't have germ cell, any cell in plant can become a flower
flowers determined by photoperiod, temperature, age, hormone, autonomous, vernalization
