The process by which information is transmitted and understood between two or more people

Key parts of the communication process mode:
Sender
– initiates a message by encoding a thought
Encoding
–the process of translates the sender’s idea into a systematic set of symbols or a language expressing the communicator’s purpose.
Channel
- the medium through which the message travel or path through which the message is physically transmitted. The senders choose to use formal or informal channels
Formal Channel

Message
- is the actual physical product of the sender’s encoding such as speech, writing, the movements of our arms & expression
Receiver
– the person(s) to whom the message is directed
Decoding
– receiver translate the symbol (message) into understandable forms
Noise
– represent communication barriers that distort the clarity of the message
Feedback
– the check on how successful we have been in transferring our messages as originally intended, determine whether understanding has been achieved
Direction of communication
Horizontal/Lateral communication
Occurs between members of the same work group members at the same level I separate work groups, or any other horizontally equivalent workers
Vertical communication
