EXPLORERS
The 5 students who received below grade level scores will work along with the teacher and collaborate to answer KWL questions on the vocabulary words, making their own cue cards and quizzing each other 4 words at a time before re-taking the assessment. The results of the retake would be recorded and compared against the first pre-assessment in order to determine whether more specialized instruction is required.
PIONEERS
The 12 students who were on grade level, would collaborate to rewrite the pledge of Allegiance in their own words, and create a pledge of their own using similar vocabulary words to show understanding and associated meanings with similar words.
Monitor Student progress
Student's progress will be monitored and recorded in the following ways:
easyCBM.com (for word recognition, oral reading fluency and comprehension)
Give frequent word recognition and reading fluency standardized assessments like those found within easyCBM.
Check in with the students at their centers,
Ask them to give a thumbs up, thumbs down, or sideways to check for understanding,
Monitor and assess individual work for collaborative English Language projects
Give an exit ticket
CRAFTERS
The 5 students who were above grade level, would turn to a partner and do a think-pair-share about elements of the US flag they are familiar with. They would then collaborate to research the meaning of the stars and stripes on the US flag, design and create a flag and pledge for the grade 2 class using similar vocabulary words, including symbols and their meaning.
