This novel was invented in 1816 in Switzerland,Mary Shelley and his husband were reading a collection of ghost stories (FANTASMAGORIA) and Lord Byron suggested a horror story writing competition.
Mary Shelley won giving birth to FRANKESTEIN.
TITLE AND SUBTITLE
The title refers to the novel's protagonist , the scientist Victor Frankestein.
The subtitle mentions the greek myth of Prometeus beacause as he challenged the divine, Frankestein tried to push the limits of the laws of nature moved by ambition and hybris.

The story is introduced by a series of letters written by Walton,a young explorer on an expedition voyage to the North Pole,to his sister,Margaret Walton Saville.
