Flood
Flooding occurs when a river overflows its banks, a flooded area is called a flood plain.

Causes of floods

. Too much water held by the river, causing the banks to overflow, is known as river floods. When it rains, most of the water seeps into the ground, but when it cannot, will stay on the ground, and flow downhill to a river
Where it is unable to soak, it where it is most common, some examples include concrete and grounds, it cannot absorb water, increasing chances of floods.
Also, people cutting down trees for other developments cause floods, the leaves act as an umbrella, water on the leaves evaporate before reaching the ground.
Rainfall
Rain is a type of precipitation, rain is an important part of the water cycle
Starts at the mountains, a stream flows into the sea

Types of rainfall
Orographic: Generally occurring around mountain range, one side receives more rain than the other

Convectional: Sun heats the ground, releasing heat, forming clouds
