Soldiers
Most of the soldiers joined the military because they needed a way to make enough money so that they can live and make a living.
They came to New France to defend it from the British who wanted to take over and the Haudenosaunee who were also attacking.
They King bribed many soldiers to come and settle in New France which gave New France a better population.

Many businesses grew up in Quebec. Strolling down the streets you would see the shops of merchants such as blacksmiths, etc.

Coureur de Bois
This saying means "runner of the woods". This term comes from the way some men were in the Fur Trade.

New France made it illegal to do independent trading. So the coureur de bois would do their trading wherever they could.
The Sovereign Council

Worked on keeping the colony in order and to make it less dependent on France for their basic needs.

They were able to fund schools, hospitals, and orphanages.

Looked over the defense of the colony and dealt with "External Relations" such as trading with the First Nations.

In a way there were kind of like slaves, because they did all the farming while the seigneurs got all the money and in return they only get a place to live which was also not very good.

Seigneurs
Seigneurs were usually men from noble family's but it was possible for woman and commoners to become seigneurs.
They would have to build a house, a flour mill, and a church for the habitants to live in. After they have done all of that then they can rent to the habitants.
