      - Two cardiac hormones (ANP, BNP) increase sodium excretion and inhibit the renin-angiotensin system.
- - - - The filtrate collects in the Bowman's capsule and continues on into the proximal convoluted tubule.
        
        The filtrate will then continue into the nephron loop, the distal convoluted tubule, and finally into a collecting duct as urine.
        
        The nephron loop's purpose is to reabsorb water and sodium chloride
        
        This reabsorption helps maintain homeostasis. For instance, when a person does not consume much salt, his/her body will reabsorb more salt in this nephron loop in order to maintain salt concentrations within the body.
