- - - - This is massively reductionist in that it denies all other physiological or non physiological explanations of what causes criminal behaviour. As well as this, even if there appeared to be an association with this body type and criminal activity- it may be due to a co-founding variable (such as the fact that this body type may be more common in low income areas where crime is committed).
      - There may also be ethical issues here in that it may cause a self fufilling prophecy.
      - Issues in psychology as a science because although a study found a correlation between the frequency of the mesomorphic body type in delinquents and students, this may be due to their environmental difference. It also stereotypes those with a larger (endomorphic) body type to be friendly or sociable, this may act as positive reinforcement towards those who engage in unhealthy eating habits and lifestyles.
      - Issues in conducting socially sensitive research in that this may cause a discrimination towards people with a mesomorphic body type, Contributing to the self fulfilling prophecy.
