- Contact student support services (SSS).
Student already known to SSS = Access student's IEP and meet with SSS to discuss possible strategies, accommodations and goals.
Implement SSS's strategies and accommodations in planning and delivery of lessons. Continue to communicate with SSS about what is going well and where teacher/student could use further support.

Communication
Communicate directly with student to learn not only what strategies and support they would like to implement, but also what passions they have that can be brought into the class.
Communicate with student's caregivers to learn establish a dialogue that fosters a positive relationship to support the student's goals.

Communicate with student's other teachers to see what strategies they employ that are already benefiting the student.
In Class
One-on-One Support student one-on-one at the beginning of independent learning time by: a) Checking for understanding of the day's lesson or assigned task, then reviewing key concepts that were not fully understood.

Outside Class
Continue to build a relationship with student to both encourage their passions as well as encourage their self-advocacy and inquiry.
Check in with student on a set schedule through email or other means to check on progress and readjust strategies, accommodations and goals as needed.
