Pre Assessment and tracking progress,
Grade 1, Subject- Reading
Students will be given a story for reading and comprehension, they will be assessed on their fluency by calculating WPM read correctly and in reading comprehension skill by retelling story and answering questions.
Assessing tool: Raz kids/ Epic & story books.
Student group 3-
5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the the topic and need to be tested further for special needs.
These students showed low scores on pre assessment and are below the average speed of fluency and accuracy level.
ELLs
Establishing rigorous monitoring systems that include periodic benchmarks can monitor ELL progress over time, determine when students are not making appropriate progress, and provide additional support to enable them to reach english proficiency and gain grade level content knowledge.
Using curriculum focused on content to allow students to learn the essentials, without getting confused and frustrated with the "fluff", by removing unnecessary material, word, etc. that can distract from the content.
Defining key vocabulary, multiple-meaning
words, and figurative language.

Student grouping 2-
12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher-order thinking skills. These students are just below the average speed of 22 WPM. These students are still developing phonological awareness skill with correct syllable usage and phonemes recognitions in their grade level.
Monitoring process will be done by Reading in a given time period of 1 minute with accuracy then answering the story quizzes in one word. As student progress level of complexity also increases.

5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly
These children can read grade-appropriate passages accurately, with ease and appropriate speed of more than 22 WPM as well as with good oral expression, generally have good language comprehension as well.
Focus on
Determining important ideas- Readers will focus on the main idea and be able to categorize the additional information
Students with advanced comprehension skills are asked to re-tell a story from the point of view of the main character.
