Atomic Structure

-
Isotopes have similar chemical reactions because they have the same electrons, and electrons participate in chemical reactions.
Electron Configuration
the first shell holds 2 electrons, the second 8, and the third 18, but fills up to 8. This goes on for further shells holding 8.
-
Cation - positive ion, which is a donator
Anion- negative ion, a receiver of electrons.

States of Matter
Solid
fixed shape and volume. It does not flow, and particles are in lattice formation. Strong forces hold them together, and particles move in tiny vibrations.
Liquid
flows easily, has a fixed volume, however it's shape changes.Particles slide past each other, still close in lattice
Gas
No fixed volume or shape, spreads out to fit the shape of container. No forces holding them together
