FENS
In the wetland fen there are animals like butterflies and other species of birds and it is also home to deer and sometimes turkey. BY KELLY

In fen wetland there are sphagnum moss (plant) grass, sedges and brown mosses. BY KELLY
A fen is one the main types of wetlands, the other being grass marshes, forested swamps, and peaty bogs. BY KELLY
They are characterized by their distinct water chemistry, which is few neutral or alkaline, with relatively high dissolved mineral levels but few other plant nutrients. BY KELLY
Fens stay wet year-round and can remain in the same location for thousands of years.
thumb up BY KELLY
Fens have a characteristic set of plants species, which sometimes provide the best indicators of environmetal conditions. BY KELLY
Fens have been damaged in the past by land drainage, and also by peat cutting. Some are now being carefully restored with modern management methods.ch13 The principal challenges are to restore natural water flow regimes, to maintain the quality of water, and to prevent invasion by woody plants. SWAMPS

There are 2 different types of swamps one is filled with freshwater and the other is filled with saltwater. swamps are also dominated by trees. -nika

The marsh is an area of low-lying land which is flooded in wet seasons or at high tide, and typically remains waterlogged at all times.
"the marsh marigold loves damp fields, riverbanks, and marshes" BY KELLY
Marshes differ depending mainly on their location and salinity. Both of these factors greatly influence the range and scope of animal and plant life that can survive and reproduce in these environments. The three main types of marsh are salt marshes, freshwater tidal marshes, and freshwater marshes.[3] These three can be found worldwide and each contains a different set of organisms.
Salt marshes are coastal wetlands that are flooded and drained by salt water brought in by the tides. BY KELLY
Common examples include cattails, sedges, papyrus and sawgrass. Aquatic animals, from fish to salamanders, are generally able to live with a low amount of oxygen in the water. BY KELLY
Marshes have deep water, the water supports life above and below
Marshes provide a habitat for many species of plants, animals, and insects that have adapted to living in flooded conditions BY KELLY

The water of a marsh can be fresh, brackish or saline. Coastal marshes may be associated with estuaries and along waterways between coastal barrier islands and the inner coast. Estuarine marshes often are based on soils consisting of sandy bottoms or bay muds. BY KELLY
The plants must be able to survive in wet mud with low oxygen levels. Many of these plants, therefore, have aerenchyma, channels within the stem that allow air to move from the leaves into the rooting zone.Marsh plants also tend to have rhizomes for underground storage and reproduction. BY KELLY

MARSH FACTS
The Okavango Delta, an area of 5,800 square miles, is be the world's largest freshwater marsh

In geography, a marsh is a type of wetland. It has grasses, rushes, reeds, typhas, sedges, and other herbaceous plants (possibly with low-growing woody plants) in a context of shallow water. BY KELLY
Marshes can often be found at the edges of lakes and streams, where they form a transition between the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.

There are three types of marshes: tidal salt marshes, tidal freshwater marshes, and inland freshwater marshes.
