Thesis: Third culture kids face a very different experience than other kids their age because of their attachment to different roots, cultures, morals that can affect the way they perceive their personal identity.
-
The sense of “not belonging” can be intense for cross culture kids, especially teens and will contribute to their formation of an identity. They don't see how they fit in these new communities that are physically, culturally and morally different from them.
They keep themselves to themselves, they stay at home, do not participate in many activities and sadly tend to be the kids who sit alone at lunch. All of this due to the fear of being judged and misunderstood.
Well these kids don't have a basis, they can't even figure out what values they are expected to have and what norms to follow according to their culture, since they don't have a specific one.
