Development as Culture
Discrimination
-
Discrimination brings inequality and injustice because it prevents people from having access to opportunities such as education and jobs.
Appearance, race, ethnicity or skin color should not be a reason for discrimination. These factors are not related to a person’s capabilities or inherent human rights.
-
Sex or gender should not be a reason for discrimination, since men, women, and non-binary people all have the same rights.
People who live in poverty are more vulnerable to discrimination and this is a vicious cycle, since discrimination leads to poverty.
Population
Population is a key for development because development relies on how large and educated the work force is.
Population analysis is very important when studying development because the size, life expectancy and education level of the population is directly related to it.
Fertility rates have dropped all around the world, so it is expected that in future years, the population will start decreasing.
Even though fertility rates have decreased, the world’s population is still growing. However, it is growing at a slower pace and will eventually start to drop.
Extreme methods to control population growth have been counterproductive. Education and consciousness are more effective than strategies such as China’s One Child policy.

Culture
-
-
-
Cultural differences do not prevent development from happening, as all cultures in the world are capable of achieving development.
Cultural diversity is very valuable because it provides different perspectives and views on life and on the world.
