Engineering Disciplines
Biomedical Engineering
It is the discipline of engineering relating design, development, manufacture, and testing for Biology work forces and healthcare.
Bio-engineers work with doctors, researchers and therapists to develop clinical equipment and systems to solve clinical problems.
Chemical Engineering
It is the discipline of engineering relating to the design, development and manufacture and testing for chemical products and chemical manufacturing processes (Medicine)
Mechanical Engineering
It is the engineering discipline relating to the design, development, manufacture and testing for mechanical systems, mechanical devices and machines. (Gears, Hydraulics and Pulleys)
Electronic Engineering
It is the engineering discipline relating to the design, development, manufacture and testing of electrical components, electrical devices, and electrical systems.
Aerospace Engineering
It is the engineering discipline relating to the design, development, manufacture and testing of flight based vehicles. There are two major and overlapping branches (Aeronautical and Astronautical).
Astronautical:
Involved with flight based vehicles
outside
the Earth's atmosphere.
Aeronautical
: Involved with flight based vehicles
inside
the Earth's atmosphere.
Communications Engineering
It is the engineering discipline relating to the design, development, manufacture and testing for communications systems concerned with the way information is sent and received.
Civil Engineering
It is the engineering discipline relating to the design, development, manufacture and testing of infrastructures: roads, buildings, bridges, airports, and services (gas, electric, water, waste/drainage).
Software Engineering
It is the engineering discipline relating to the design, development, manufacture and testing of computer systems.
It differs from the rest of the engineering disciplines, because it is the only one that looks into building systems that are
intangible
(something that cannot be touched physically).
Automotive Engineering
It is the engineering discipline relating to the design, development, manufacture and testing of land based vehicles and transportation: cars, buses, trains, motorcycles, bikes.
