France and Britain constantly not objecting to German Expansionism because it is irrelevant to what they own.
Anschluss, uniting Germany and Austria, meant that the Treaty of Versailles was dead, quite a short term spark because of new possibilities
Eventually led to Hitler believing that France and Britain would sit and watch Germany invade Poland
Appeasement

Short term cause because Britain and France believed they could satisfy Germany's ambitions with appeasement but they were terribly wrong.

Had great potential to cause a war by itself: two political extremes agreeing to anything is monumental.
