How did 3 bleaching events at Kane'ohe Bay, Hawaii differ in their imacts of the coral reef system
1996

less than 1% dead
1996 had a very high portion of bleached coral at risk of death, but there was very little coral already dead
Mortality rates for coral is increaseing. Ocean circulations bringing different temperatures have a significant affect on localized bleaching events as heat stressed coral are prone to disease, predation ect.
2014
-
-
45% bleached
2014 had similar amounts of normal coral to 1996, with much more dead and pale corals, and lower amounts of bleached coral. This indicates that much of the coral that was bleached in 1996 was either returned to pale or died

2015

-
under 20% pale
2015 saw an increase in normal coral from 2014, with a decrease in pale and bleached coral, but an increase in dead coral. This indicates that some of the pale coral returned to normal, while much of the bleached coral either became pale or died
