Definition : Hearing loss is the damage of the inner ear or the nerve from the ear to the brain, sensorineural hearing loss is permanent.
Pathophysiology
Causes wearing and tearing on the hairs or nerve cells in the cochlea that send sound signals to the brain

Damage to the outer , middle and inner ear due to aging process
Neural component can be the result of severe damage to the organ of Corti that causes hearing nerves to degenerate
