Charleston, SC is Taken
The siege began April 2. The battle was roughly 5,500 to 13,00. At this Major Lincoln was forced to surrender. Sir Clinton of the British led the attack. This was the first time that the British gained control of a free territory since the start of the
revolution.

Bank of America Opens
This Bank was created by the government for the government. It was created using only $400,000 which was a lot in that time. Robert Morris was the Bank Head. This bank was operated from Pennsylvania. Davy Crockett is Born
Davy Crockett was born in 1786. In 1813, he enlisted in the military. Soon after, in 1817, he enters politics. He successfully becomes part of the TN General Assembly. After this he joins congress.

Rhode Island Ratifies the Constitution
For a very long time, Rhode Island strongly opposed the constitution. For a while they were known as the States' Evil Genius. It got to a point where the government rejected the Constitution 11 times. Other states cut off trade with Rhode Island. It took this to motivate them to ratify the constitution.

Invention of the Cotton Gin
This device was invented by Eli Whitney. It stemmed from a direct demand. The purpose of the Cotton Gin was to separate seeds from cotton. It was the most important invention in agricultural history. The whole goal was to make life easier.

Founding of The Library of Congress
Started as an opposition to Removal of New National Government. The LOC was founded with only $5,000 to purchase books. This was a joint-committee run by the Adams Family. It was the first ever Joint-Committee in U.S. government. Now the LOC is the largest private collection of literature in our country.

Founding of Ohio
This area was initially colonized by French Fur Traders. This began in 1754. After the founding of the state, there were so many holes in the paper work that it wasn't fully approved as a state until Eisenhower was president.The name Ohio comes from the word O-Y-O. Now Ohio is one of the most prominent states.

Slave Trade was Ended
The slave trade was a very important part of our countries history. It had a very large role in our agricultural success. Ban of 1808 stopped all trades of entities with souls from the West Indies. Slaver still lasted about 50 more years however. It was completely abolished by Abraham Lincoln in 1865.

Battle of Tippecanoe
This battle took place in late autumn. It was very bloody and against the U.S. and the Shawnee Native Americans. It took place at Prophetstown, Indiana. This led to a confederation of tribes. This tribe reached from Michigan to Georgia.
