Acute emotional distress e.g from bad news

Strenuous physical activities

Cardioembolic sroke

Temporal lobe epilepsy

Basilar artery thrombosis

Posterior cerebral artery

Pathophysiology

Small white matter changes

Basal ganglia lesions/peri ventricular lucencies in 12%

Early memory in hippocampus is transfered to remote memories

Atherosclerotic events disrupt bloodflow to hippocampus

Venous congestion & jugular vein valve insufficient are also hypothesized

Severe emotional reaction & migraine contribute to destabilization of CA1

Carotid atheromasia

Cancer patients

Ischemic heart disease

Clinical manifestation

Dizziness

Chills

Hot flushes

Fear of dying

Parasthesis

History of migraine

Nursing intervention

Note any accompanying signs and symptoms

Administer medication as doctor's prescription for symptoms
