Alfred is a 70-year-old man who had had a previous stomach ulcer, prostate cancer and hypertension. He took aspirin bought at the pharmacy to protect his heart. He was prescribed a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and admitted after vomiting blood

Stomach ulcers
When a patient has a stomach ulcer, they need treatment to heal the ulcers. Treatments include a course of antibiotics and also medication called PPI ( proton pump inhibitors)
PPI's would be given for 6-8 weeks after treatment, these can include either omeprazole, pantoprazole or lansoprazole.

Prostate cancer
Treatment for cancer depends on individual circumstances. For many men, no treatment is needed. when treatment is needed, the aim is to cure or control the cancer.
People with prostate CA are to watch for symptoms to get worse, active surveillance, and even removing the prostate glands.

pharmacology
PPI- PPI's block the gastric H, K-ATPase, inhibiting the gastric acid in the stomach. This is the lining of the stomach and it allows the ulcers to heal
Aspirin- Aspirin is absorbed in the upper gastrointestinal tract. It is used to reduce pain or inflammation. It is classed as a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug.
Beta blockers and ACE inhibitors will decrease the blood pressure, bringing it into normal ranges for that person

Prostate cancer- to monitor and check for any other changes and inform consultants if anything is different.
