The climate influences temperatures, cloudiness, humidity, the frequency and intensity of precipitation, and wind patterns, each of which can influence air quality.

This serious lack of data also stalls any discussion on improving air quality in Pakistan, Omar says in the documentary. To address this, Omar has started Pakistan Air Quality Initiative, which provides crowd-sourced, community-driven air quality data to increase social awareness. One is forced to wonder: is this enough? Shouldn’t the government and the country’s pollution control authorities be doing something about this?

SIALKOT -The entire Sialkot region was blanketed in dense fog and smog
with almost zero visibility, virtually halting all road, rail and air traffic on Wednesday.

According to the management of Sialkot International Airport, most of the international passenger and cargo flights of
the different international airlines, including national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Emirates,
Qatar Airways, Fly Dubai and Air Arabia, faced delays in the arrival at and departure from the Sialkot International Airport.
Most of the aircrafts of these airlines remained parked at SIAL runways here. On the other
hand, a large number of passengers including women remained stranded at SIAL for several hours due to the inordinate delay in flights including for foreign destinations.

The perturbed passengers complained that no one from the SIAL management and the international airlines informed them about the delay in the departure.

Attendance in the government and private offices and educational institutions also remained thin due prevailing smog and fog. General public also preferred staying indoor without having electricity and gas.
