Crossing a cheque
A cross cheque canonly be paid through a bank, and therefore the person presenting the
cheque must have a bank account.

1) The cheque can only be paid through a
bank, credited into an account.

TYPE OF CROSSING

It is where a cheque bears across its face two paralle parallel transverse lines simply, or add between those lines:

1) Undated cheque
- No date
- Still valid even though the banker may not honor it.

4) Post-Dated cheque
- bears a date later than the actual issue date i.e. Post-dated
- not ‘payable on demand’
3) Ante-Dated Cheque
- bears a date earlier than the actual issue date
2) Overdue cheque or stale cheque
- In circulation for ‘an unreasonable length of time’
