Martin Luther thought that the Catholic Church had too much power. He thought this because the church was selling indulgences, which he thought was wrong.
Martin Luther then nailed the list of his 95 theses on the church door so everyone would walk by and see it.
The 95 theses was to convince people that the church was wrong. Luther thought the church should not be the central religious authority and people should have their own ideas and thoughts. He believed that you could reach salvation by your own faith. By having a connection with god and not paying off your sins.
Because people saw these theses people started to disagree and see the bad in the church so the church split in two. It formed the religion, Protestant which were people who followed Luther.
-
It was important because it declared Luther as an outlaw and a heretic. His books were burned and no one was allowed to give him food or shelter. The church used its power to portray Luther as a bad guy. They did this because Luther was gaining power.

The German peasant revolt was when some peasants began to apply Luther's revolutionary ideas to society. They demanded an end to serfdom. Bands of angry peasants went about the countryside raiding monasteries, pillaging, and burning
This caused Luther to write a pamphlet urging the German princes to show the peasants no mercy. The prince's armies crushed the revolt, killing as many as 100,000 people. This is important because any peasants to reject Luther's religious leadership.

What did the Reformation do for the general population for the first time in history, why is this important to you today?
Expanded priest hood. At the time it was hard to priests. Expanded priest hood you can now marry hold a job more and have more hobbies than being at church. The priests used to hold higher status to people around them but now they are they are more equal.
No one read Latin but when the bible got translated people could form their own thoughts about religion. Today there are many interoperations of the bible and now your faith is how you interpret it.
There were new ways of warship now. More people got involved in the survice of church. This did this by singing and praying and dancing Now there are a lot of groups that share religion together.
People got the privilege to learn and discover new things. They could now read the bible and interpret the bible for themselves. This is now kind of like Sunday school.

What are the largest positive effects of the Reformation, and the largest negative effects of the Reformation?
-
-
-
I'd say the reformation had more of a positive impact. For example one big impact it had was that people can now have their own ideas and thoughts so they could now interpret the bible in their own way. The reformation also caused more people to get involved in the survice of church. This did this by singing and praying and dancing. There was also and expanded priesthood. The printing press was the first thing to get mass information to a mass amount of people. There were bad things that happened but every positives event has negatives but in the reformation the positives way out lays the negatives

Explain why Henry VIII wanted to reform the church in England, is this justifiable, explain?
-
He wanted to reform the church because he wanted to know which branch of christianity would benefit him the most and help him with his problems
Before he started his own church.(Anglican church) England at the time was under Roman Catholicism. He wanted a heir but he kept having daughters. He then wanted the Pope ti annul his marriage. The Pope said no because Henry was married to his wife for 10 years. Henry then wanted to be the head of his own church.
He did all of this for himself. He was very selfish. This is not justifiable because he tried to get around the rules to get benefits for himself.

GOOD, BAD, or INBETWEEN. Decide for yourself and provide evidence to support your stance on Martin Luther.
I'd say Martin Luther is in between. I think this because at the beginning of the reformation Martin Luther cared about you as a person about the general person. He was also a good person and very understanding. He had good ideas and wanted the best for people and tried to be his best self.
But before the reformation Martin Luther was a small monk and was very shy. Then when the reformation started gaining traction Martin Luther didn't want to be a part of it all. He got so big people would mail him asking his opinions on things.
When the reformation got big Martin got away from his roots of wanting the best for people. He got really selfish. He even started to kill the jews after they didn't want to join him. So at the start of the reformation he was a good guy but once it got going he started to not be a good guy so that's why I think he is in-between.

How did the Reformation turn from a peaceful idea of change to a violent movement against different religious groups? Explain using examples.
Luther started off wanting everything for the people. He was a humanist. Things then Spiraled out of control
and Luther was very overwhelmed. It started off as Luther mailing his 95 theses to make an important point and to make change. It then was printed out and spread everywhere. This led a divide in the church and society. called out to the jews to try to join him. Luther started off wanting everything for the people. He was a humanist. Things then Spiraled out of control

Luther was very annoyed at this so he had synagogues and school burned. He also killed or maimed any rabbis who dared to teach their faith
Another example is the German Peasant Revolt which was if the Germans didn't obey the prince they died which led to 100k Germans drying.
