Plants
Seaweed
Structural
Seaweed's fronds are very tough, and this is helpful for the plant's survival. This allows the seaweed to avoid being torn or seeped away by strong ocean waves.
It has thick, rubbery stems that protect it from the corrosive ocean water, and uses simplified versions of roots and leaves to hold it in place and absorb sunlight.
Algae
Structural
They produce a kind of sunblock that forms a shield around them that protects them from the UV rays.
