Periodic Table
Trends
Group 1 : Alkali metals
down the period, the metals are silvery and become softer, density increases, and melting point and boiling point decreases.
Reactivity
They are the most reactive group of metals due to losing only one electron to gain stability. As you go down the group, the reactivity increases. The more shells there are, the further the outer electron is from the nucleus, so easier to lose.
Group 17
down the period, the elements get deeper in colour, their density increases and boiling points increase.

Metals
Metals are found in Group 1 as alkali metals, Group 2 as alkaline earth metals, Group 3 has Aluminium, and all transition elements.
-
Non-Metals
Non-metals are elements that form negative ions, and that do not have the characteristics of a metal. Examples include carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.
Transition Metals
the block of 30 elements in the middle of the periodic table, found in Group 3-12. They include everyday metals such as iron, tin copper and silver.
