Food insecurity- A problem that has been around for years, and has risen due to the pandemic. Many families are unable to have meals despite their efforts. Lack of food is not beneficial to their heath.
Solution
Donating to soup kitchens. You can donate either your money or time to soup kitchens to help the families that depend on them to receive food. By donating your time you can make sure more people can receive food. By donating your money, you can make sure people get more food and a full stomach.
A solution to the problem of food insecurity can be community fridges. Freedge's are already done around the country. These fridges give food access to the surrounding families . A community can work together to help those in need,

Effects
Health Problems: when you don't eat, you are bound to have many health problems because you're not giving the body the necessary components. Not only that but you're not getting your iron which can lead to iron deficiency, anemia, and other chronic diseases.
Lack of energy: In adults, not having food will mean you will lack energy. Taking care of your family, going to work, etc requires much energy. Meaning that without the necessary energy, your work and family can be affected.
Acting up: Food insecurity is linked with anxiety. This affects both adults and children. Anxiety in children can show up in different forms for example acting up and talking back to parent's. This will only lead to more stress in the parent's which can lead to depression in them.
Lack of focus : For younger children not getting adequate food can greatly affect their learning abilities. Children who don't get food will obtain iron deficiency which is linked with low performance at school. leading to low grades which depending on your grade can have a huge impact.

Care for God's creation: God made us all equal, he want's us to be treated equally and take care of each other and the earth. Meaning we should help those in need, in this case the ones who don't have access to food. We can help them by donating food, holding food drives, or donating our time.
Option for the poor and vulnerable: God wants us to make sure there is justice, and help the oppressed , the poor and vulnerable. We can do this by fighting for better wages for the working class. To make sure people aren't being taken advantage of.
Causes
Neighborhood: your area can affect in many ways your access to food. For example, if you depend on food vouchers your local grocery stores might not accept them, and you might not have the means to go to farther stores. Many low income families live in areas where there might be one or two stores that are not fully stocked. Meaning they can't get access to food and can't afford to go to farther stores where the prices are much higher. Leading to food insecurity.
Pandemic: we are currently in a pandemic causing many problems, one of them being food insecurity. How? well due to the shutdowns many businesses have had to close or cut some of their employees. Besides this, there are stay at home orders set for a month, meaning there will be no money. leading up to food insecurity.
Expenses: Families have many expenses electricity,gas,rent,mortgage,food. Sometimes the family will not have enough for it all and will have to sacrifice meals for this because they do not want to loose their homes.This leads to food insecurity.
Loss of employment: Many people can loose their jobs out of nowhere due to cuts. When you loose your job you have to be much more careful with your remaining money, so many will ration food. Meaning you might get insufficient amounts of food or no food at all. It can take days to months to find a new job, meaning food insecurity will increase.
Lack of food vouchers/government support. When a family is low income they are legible to apply for EBT/food vouchers. You will be given money depending on your family size and needs. However these might not be sufficient due to cuts and family sizes, and the amount of times they get more money. leading up to food instability.
Income: Although one might have a job, it doesn't automatically mean they are earning a good wage. Many things can factor into wages and pay checks.In the U.S there are many undocumented workers that are being taken advantage of. They are being paid less and they can't report this because they are afraid of being deported. Something else that can affect a families income would be the amount of people working, for example a single mother with three children will still struggle even working over time.
