That the children grew up and never knew or how have the connection with someone they could trust. They just never develop bonds with other people.

Object permanence- the ability to know that an object is there even though they can not see or hear it
You hide the object in location A a couple of times and have the infant look for it . Then you change the location to location B, you wait a little then have the infant look for the object. The infant look around but ends up looking in location A, even thought he saw it going in to location B (he cannot keep the information in his mind).
-the concept "out of sight out of mind" literally applies to infants.
