CLASS AND TYPES OF EQUIPMENT
Class
Class II
Protection provided depends on the supply of additional insulation
Two layers of insulation between any live part and accessible part of the equipment. Another is to rely on only one layer of reinforced insulation
Symbol:
Class III
Related to Class I and Class II
Protection against shock relies on supply at self extra-low voltage (SELV). Voltages higher than SELV are not generated
(SELV does not exceed 25V ac or 60V dc)
Class I
Protection against electric shock does not rely on basic insulation
Symbol:
Have protective earth conductor connected between protective earth terminal and external protective earthing system
Types
BF
As type B but with isolated or floating (F-type) applied parts
Symbol :
CF
Providing a higher degree of protection against electric shock than type BF, particularly with regard to allowable leakage currents and have floating applied parts
Symbol :
B
Symbol :
Providing a particular degree of protection against electric shock, particularly regarding allowable leakage currents and reliability of the protective earth connection if present
