BACKGROUND OF THE INSTITUTION
Before Islam comes into the Arab Society, only 17 persons from Quraish know how to write and read.
After the advent of Islam, Maktabs or kuttabs becoming a small Quranic schools, often only elementary schools, attached to village mosques.
Places for writing already existed before Islam, located in teacher’s house.
